Wisdom researcher Eeva K. Kallio talks about wisdom concepts in psychology and education and discusses the importance of wisdom in the era of meta-crisis with Timo Vuorio and Katri Sandholm.
Wisdom is a solemn word, and it has numerous definitions in different cultures. However, it has something that unites the definitions: it has always been considered a particularly desirable characteristic, and it is an ideal state that a person is capable of at their best. It has been spoken of in different world religions, cultures under different names, and also in philosophy, which in Western countries was originally translated as the friendship or love of wisdom. Psychological research in this area has been on the rise for several decades, and other disciplines seem to be following suit.
At the meeting PsT, docent, wisdom researcher Eeva K. Kallio (Universities of Jyväskylä and Tampere) will present the latest insights from psychological and educational research on this phenomenon, and will also talk more generally about the scope and history of the research field. She has worked on the University of Jyväskylä's "Wisdom in Practice" project 2022-2026, funded by the Academy of Finland. Kallio will be in dialogue with philosophy researcher Timo Vuorio and psychology teacher Katri Sandholm from Tampere Critical Academy, and together they will reflect on the importance of wisdom in the era of meta-crisis. The public will also have the opportunity to participate in the discussion.
The event is open and free to everyone, and it will not be streamed online. The Manor Café will be open during the event. The event is organized by Tampere Critical Academy.
