Tampere Day 2025

Tampere’s anniversary was celebrated during Tampere Day weekend on 3–5 October 2025, when the city turned 246 years old. The festive weekend was filled with events, including culture, sports, open doors, and tours. Thank you for joining the celebrations!

Tampere was established on 1 October 1779 by Gustav III, the King of Sweden. Tampere celebrates this occasion every year on the first of October and the closest weekend to that date. The city will come alive with a diverse programme and a wide range of experiences organised by the City of Tampere and numerous local organisations.

In 2026 the city of Tampere will celebrate its 247th anniversary, Tampereen päivä – Tampere Day, from 1 to 4 October. Welcome to join the celebrations!

Tampere Day takes over Central square: big machines and running fun

3.10.2025 Tampere's 246th anniversary will be celebrated during the Tampere Day weekend on 3–5 October 2025. A diverse program features culture, open doors, sports and guided tours. On Saturday, the Central square will be taken over by the Big Machines and Tampere Runs events. Large crowds are expected, so please arrive by public transport, on foot, or by bike.
