Korean group 까치동 (Kkacjidong) presents Wolmaedyeon in Finland for the first time – a visually rich and emotional performance blending tradition with bold reinterpretation.

Sunday, October 5 at 4:00 PM, Hällä Stage (Hämeenkatu 25, Tampere)

Free admission. No advance booking required.

The Korean ensemble 까치동 (Kkacjidong) arrives in Finland for the first time with their enchanting family-friendly production Wolmaedyeon.

Duration approx. 60 minutes.

Wolmaedyeon offers a new perspective on the classic Chunhyangga tale. This time, the focus is on Chunhyang’s mother, Wolmae—no longer a side character, but the emotional heart of the story.

The performance combines puppetry, pansori, sand animation, and audience participation, creating a multidimensional experience that speaks to the audience both visually and emotionally.

It is a tribute to Korean tradition, yet a bold reinterpretation that explores themes of motherhood, memory, love, and resistance. Visually rich and emotionally powerful, this performance is suitable for all ages.

The performance is an official part of the Korean Day program. At the same time, we celebrate the 3rd anniversary of the King Sejong Institute Tampere! The entire event is free of charge.
