Tampere marked its 244th anniversary – get back to the celebrations

Tampere Day was celebrated from 29 September to 1 October with almost a hundred events. The Tampere Day weekend attracted a great number of visitors to events all over Tampere.

Tampere Day offered events for everyone, from culture to sport and from open doors to guided tours. In addition to the City of Tampere, Tampere Day events were organised by citizens, local organisations, communities and businesses.

On Sunday 1 October, the city offered free access to the city’s gyms and swimming pools, which were visited by a total of 2,684 people on Sunday. At the same time, the City of Tampere responded to the activity challenge presented by President of the Republic Sauli Niinistö encouraging Finns to exercise.

Culture was also enjoyed over the weekend, as some of Tampere’s museums offered free admission to their exhibitions for Tampere Day celebrants.

At the Milavida Museum, you could take a peek into the life of the Nottbeck family, the owners of Finlayson, in the exhibition Nottbecks – Tampere’s cosmopolitans and admire bridal gowns in the exhibition The Beautiful Bride.

Tampere Central Fire Station and Hervanta Fire Station opened their doors again on Tampere Day.
