Tampere Day takes over Central square: big machines and running fun
Tampere's 246th anniversary will be celebrated during the Tampere Day weekend on 3–5 October 2025. A diverse program features culture, open doors, sports and guided tours. On Saturday, the Central square will be taken over by the Big Machines and Tampere Runs events. Large crowds are expected, so please arrive by public transport, on foot, or by bike.
Tampere Awards 2025: honouring the promoters of literature, local democracy and inclusion
The Tampere Awards were presented on the 246th anniversary of the city on Wednesday 1.10.2025 at the Tampere Day celebrations in the Old City Hall. The prize was awarded to writer Seppo Jokinen and Satu Hassi, a politician and writer. In addition, a number of Tampere citizens were honoured for their achievements in strengthening local democracy and inclusion, among other things.

Tampere celebrates its 246th anniversary with the traditional Tampere Day festivities from 3 to 5 October 2025. Companies, associations, and communities can now register their events for the city's joint celebration weekend. The deadline for registration is 30 September at 1.00 PM.
Tampere Prize for Academician of Arts Sirkku Peltola and city councillor Jukka Gustafsson
The Tampere Awards were presented on the 245th anniversary of the city on Tuesday 1.10.2024 at the Tampere Day celebrations in Tampere Hall. The prize was awarded to Sirkku Peltola, an Academician of Arts known as a playwright and director, and Jukka Gustafsson, a city councillor with a long career in municipal politics and as a member of parliament.
Tampere awards to Santtu-Matias Rouvali and Pauli "Pate" Mustajärvi
On the 244th anniversary of Tampere, Tampere awards were granted to conductor Santtu-Matias Rouvali and musician Pauli "Pate" Mustajärvi. The award recipients symbolise the importance of Tampere culture and music life both in Finland and internationally in a great way. The Tampere awards were presented at Tampere City Hall on 1 October 2023.
